Landmark Worldwide nears completion of a challenging but transformational four-year transition period

SAN FRANCISCO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / July 31, 2024 / Landmark, a global leader in personal and professional development programs, today announced the final phase of a significant reorganization plan designed to ensure the company’s long-term stability and commitment to expanding its services. This strategic move comes as the company addresses the remaining impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Landmark’s business and positions the company for future expansion and success.

Adaptation to the new reality

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to Landmark’s business model, particularly in North America, which has traditionally relied on personally group programs hosted in leased facilities. The abrupt halt to these programs at the onset of the pandemic led to a dramatic drop in revenue and the need to redesign Landmark’s delivery methods. In response, Landmark moved many of its programs to an online format, allowing it to deliver the unique value of its programs to Landmark’s customers. The transition was incredibly difficult, as it has been for many businesses. However, the move to an online format has made Landmark’s transformational programs much more accessible to an increasingly broad global audience.

Now, four years later, Landmark is nearing the completion of this significant transformation. While incredibly challenging, the events of the past four years have also been pivotal to Landmark’s evolution as a company.

During this time, Landmark has embarked on and continues a comprehensive transformation of its business and operations, focusing on several key areas, including:

  • Technological improvements: Modernizing technology infrastructure to better meet the needs of customers and employees.

  • New products: New and flexible live course offerings, on-demand audio and video recordings, interactive self-paced courses, and engaging AI tools powered by Landmark ideas and accolades.

  • Cultural evolution: For the past three years, we have been working to promote a more inclusive and dynamic culture through ongoing and regular diversity conversations and training.

  • Working environment: Designing and continuously implementing improvements aimed at creating a more productive workplace with better work-life balance.

  • New management and advisory board: Transition to new leadership and the creation of an Advisory Board of leading experts, including those from the business, personal development, technology, health and workplace industries.

  • Professional Qualifications: Establishment Landmark Training Academy to provide its clients with a new level of comprehensive training and development opportunities including certification.

  • Community opportunities: Creating Landmark App AND Landmark Subscription supporting Landmark customers by providing affordable and flexible access to programs and new opportunities to connect with the global Landmark community.

Landmark Worldwide nears completion of a challenging but transformational four-year transition period

As Landmark engages in the final phase of this transformation, it is realigning its North American operations, which have been most impacted by the pandemic. Having transitioned from a strictly in-person programming company with 27 brick-and-mortar locations across North America, the organization was left burdened with empty and unused properties across North America. After years of honoring lease obligations—despite the fact that the properties were virtually empty and unused—Landmark is using a focused and very limited bankruptcy of one of its subsidiaries, which is associated with the last six remaining leases prior to the pandemic, to address the last remaining and unsustainable economic burden related to COVID. As part of this process, the property owners will receive a cash payment and return their properties to be re-leased to new tenants. This process will not involve and will not impact Landmark’s clients or any of its operations in North America or globally.

With the completion of all of these actions, Landmark is taking its business, operations and industry-leading programs into a new era that is aligned with today’s changing world.

“Although the last few years have been challenging, we are excited about what we have accomplished, including how we continue to transform our organization. We are even more excited about our expanded ability to deliver the unique value of our programs to our customers around the world,” said Kelly Wolf, corporate spokeswoman for Landmark. “Through it all, we are grateful to the Landmark community, including our current and former customers and staff, for their continued support.”
