Vice President Harris and her husband have repeatedly donated to a nonprofit that is anti-police and pro-sanctuary cities, according to financial disclosures released by the White House.

The donations went to Legal Aid DC, a nonprofit legal organization that provides services to underprivileged Washington residents. In addition to its work with the poor, however, the organization has called for cuts to police budgets and reduced patrols in high-crime areas.

“We are concerned, especially given the ongoing protest movement, about any solution that would involve more policing and policing in DC public housing. #BlackLivesMatterDC,” the group’s then-official Twitter account X tweeted just days after George Floyd’s death in 2020, in response to a report that the city’s top prosecutor was suing its housing authority over its alleged failure to address drug and gun crimes.

Less than a week later, the group condemned a proposed budget increase for Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department.

“Legal Aid joins call to defund police and reinvest in communities,” the group posted.

The posts were published in 2020, shortly after Floyd’s death and as anti-police riots broke out across the country, first in his hometown of Minneapolis and then in major cities including Washington, New York and Chicago.

In Washington, 52 U.S. National Park Police officers were injured trying to keep rioters away from the White House in 2020, according to Ken Spencer, president of the Fraternal Order of the National Park Police.

“We condemn any politician who would support an agency that would endanger the safety of our officers and the public we protect,” he told Fox News Digital.

The agency, which already suffers from a historic staffing shortage, saw an exodus of officers after the riots, like many other departments, he said.

TIM WALZ EXPANDED VOTING RIGHTS FOR CRIMINALS, KAMALA HARRIS ONCE MOVED THE IDEA OF GOING EVEN FURTHER

The Washington Examiner was first to report financial documents filed by Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, revealing the donations.

“So in 2023, the same year that the mayor of Washington had to declare a state of emergency over juvenile delinquency, Kamala donated to a group committed to dismantling the police,” said Paul Mauro, a former NYPD detective. “The result of that is visible in the crime reform bill our capital city had to pass recently to counter the naive and destructive agendas of public servants who are acting more like college activists. This coming from a prosecutor? No wonder our cities look like this.”

In November 2023, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a state of public emergency due to youth violence.

“In the first nine months of 2023, 458 juveniles were arrested for theft, including carjacking, homicide or assault with a dangerous weapon, 10% more than the total number of such arrests for all of 2022,” his office revealed at the time.

And crime was not just a youth problem.

Crime statistics through August 12 from the Washington Metropolitan Police Department show a 30 percent drop in homicides in the city since the beginning of the year.

But that figure comes after a 20-year high of 274 homicides citywide was reached in 2023. Between 2004 and 2023, annual homicides topped 200 only three times: in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Thefts increased nearly 70% in 2023 compared to 2022. Carjackings increased more than 80%. Both have dropped double digits since the beginning of the year.

“It’s funny how a little repression can make a difference,” Mauro said.

Earlier this year, Washington lawmakers rolled back a number of post-Floyd reforms, almost unanimously.

Legal Aid DC also asked the Washington City Council to commit to being a “sanctuary” for illegal immigrants, calling for amendments to a bill hoping they would extend housing and other benefits to homeless migrants arriving by bus from Arizona and Texas.

Migrant shelters in turn require more police resources to maintain public safety.

“It also shows that the accusation that Kamala did nothing as President Biden’s ‘border czar’ is indeed false,” Mauro said. “While unchecked illegals were flooding our borders and prison gangs like Tren de Aragua were setting up shop here, Kamala was funding a group to turn our capital into a permanent sanctuary city. Those of us who were wrong are right.”

The couple has also donated thousands of dollars to Howard University and the University of Southern California, as well as a few other California- and Washington-based charities, including the Matthew Silverman Memorial Foundation, which fights teen suicide.

But Legal Aid DC isn’t the first far-left nonprofit Harris has supported.

In 2020, she solicited donations from her supporters for the Minnesota Freedom Fund, ostensibly to pay bail for Black Lives Matter protesters arrested during anti-police riots in the spring and summer of 2020 following Floyd’s death.

But the group has also posted bail for people accused of violent crimes, including at least two who were arrested on homicide charges after being released on bail.

George Howard, a domestic violence suspect, has been released after allegedly shooting and killing another man during a road rage fight. Shawn Michael Tillman He was released on bail a year later with help from the fund. He then allegedly found a rival at a train station and shot him six times.

Harris’ office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
