Elmhurst crash: Truck overturns on exit from I-290 onto Rt. 83, helicopter video shows 7

A semi-truck slowed traffic Wednesday morning in the westbound lanes of I-290 in the northern suburbs.

ELMHURST, Ill. (WLS) — Traffic was significantly slowed on the westbound lanes of I-290 in the western suburbs Wednesday morning.

The crash was reported at approximately 7:41 a.m. on I-290 near the northbound 83 exit.

Helicopter No. 7 flew over the scene at about 7:58 a.m., showing the truck lying on its side.

Traffic was able to bypass the accident. Illinois State Police were on the scene.

It is unclear how long it will take to clear the crash site. Authorities estimated the exit would not be fully reopened until 11:30 a.m.

The extent of the driver’s injuries is unknown. Details are limited.
